And thus ends a stellar season by the minivans... Tonight we played the roadrunners, a team we had already beaten twice before but we just couldn't keep up with the intensity they brought in the late stages of the game. Ill choose to be objective in this post, I could be really biased but we flat out lost to a team that we shouldn't have lost to. There's no excuses, we got outplayed when it counted most.
We started out the game really well, controlled the pace but couldn't find the back of the net. Our passing was on, our shots were good, their goalie kept them in the first period. We finally got a goal in the second period and went up 1-0 and we were feeling pretty good. The feeling didn't last, the roadrunners came back in the third and tied the game up, then scored a go-ahead goal with 3:30 left in the game.
We called a timeout to catch our breath and tried to come out stronger but the roadrunners kept us in check and contained the hell out of us. We didn't leave our zone in the last 2 minutes of the game. Fucking PATHETIC!!
Overall it was a good season. We stared out with a win loss record of 1-3 and ended the regular season with a win loss of 9-3-1.
Good work this season team.
Next season starts at the end of september.

Mini Vans - Playoffs
big game tonite at 9pm, thats for sure
we're past the first round of the playoffs and now its just a one game format for the rest of the way.
we need to win tonite against the roadrunners, a team we already beat twice so far this year by the slimmest of margins each time. the only exception is that we got a full team today, we've never played them with a full team.
that includes loppy, back from his trip, and another person as well back from a 3 week vaca.
gotta stay grounded, cant get too far ahead of ourselves. we got the momentum, we just won our last 2 games pretty much, the roadrunners lost in overtime last week when their goalie pretty much scored on himself.

mini vans - playoffS
Tonight was a BIIIIIIGGG game in the playoffs. Second game of a 2 game series, we got smoked the first game and needed to win the second by atleast 2 goals, and then win in the OT period after the game to decide who would go onto the next round. The first game was good for us, we had the other team on their asses for a while and kept up the high pressure throughout the first and second periods. We went into the third clinging to a 1-0 lead, but that quickly evaporated when they tied the game with 12 minutes left in the third. We didn't let it faze us though, and we put on the pressure again and scored another goal to go up 2-1. After that we could tell the other team was dying, several of the players were lying on the ground and toasted. That's when we knew we had to turn it up so we kept the ball in their end with some good passing and wasted time on the clock. The other team finally got their goalie pulled and brawlette got a chance to race it up the floor and he was gone. He put the ball in the open net to guarantee the win and then we started to think about the OT period coming up next that we had to win.
The OT was fast paced and exciting from the beginning and we kept the pressure on the knighthawks and kept it out of our end. Baskie played like the MVP he's been all season and made some beauty saves to keep our season alive and we just tried to get off as many shots as we could. All of our lines got some really good chances but we couldn't end the game. I got off from a shift and was sitting on the bench pissed off because I hadn't shot on a chance and tried to feed it to brawley and mucked the play up. I came out the next shift with a vengeance and kotchie's brother made a nice play to catch a clearing attempt and run it up the floor and I yelled at him that I was with him. It was a 2 on 1 and he made a nice play to draw the defenceman over and fed me a juicy pass and I rifled the ball into top cheese corner. OT, series clinching goal, feels nice knowing that we can play in high pressure situations and come out on top. Good hustle tonite team.
b-kells showed up tonite to play, he was hustling his ass off, same with johnson, both brawleys, both kotchs, stabs, and everyone else. special shoutout to BEVAN!! played his first game of the year on forward and he was doing really well tonite, now we know what position hes playin from now on. only thing he needs is some SHORTS!! he'll be wheelin and dealin as soon as he gets rid of the baggy sweats he rocks. overall we played really well tonite and im proud to be a part of the Mini Vans
Now we need to concentrate on the next series. There's no fucking way it'll be this stressfull again.

Mini Vans - Playoffs
last night sucked, thats all i can say.
we had 2 full lines, we were missing one of our fastest players, and one of our key defencemen out there and it showed.
we got outplayed by a better and more amped up Onedin Knighthaws team and they beat us 2-1 in the first game of the playoffs, thats no good.
we started off the game strong and scored the first goal but they came back in the second and third periods and tied it up and eventually scored the game winning goal with 3 minutes left in the game.
our defence was sloppy as hell, our offence just couldnt get it going at all. we need to practice our breakout, really badly.
we also need to isolate their shitty right defencemen and pressure the shit out of them so that we can enter their zone more easily and get off more shots.

Mini Vans - Playoffs
this is it, what we've played for all season long.
first game of the playoffs is tonite and the team including myself is pumped. we finished the season first place, and now the fun begins.
we're playin the Onedin Nighthaws in the first series of the playoffs, that means 2 games and the team with the most points moves on. im looking forward to playing against this team because we played well against them all season long and we're only gotten better this year as the season went on so they'll see a different team out there tonite playing against them.
we're gonna need to watch a few of their players over the next 2 games and try to shut down #10 and #11. both of them were in the top 10 in scoring in the league and lead their team in points. if we can shut them up then it will just give us a better chance to get a win.

mini vans - regular season
Tonight was the last game of the regular season and we knew before the game that we had already clinched first place in the league. We were playing the orange team, a good opponent that made the game close last time we played and did the same thing this time. We started off the game with me, brawley and johnson bringin the intensity on the first shift and hack, brawlette and stabs following it up with a beaty shift and hackett sniped a nice goal. The very next shift for me brawl and johnson came out and killed it and got another goal to make the game 2-0 and we were feeling good.
We kept up the pressure and had the other team on their heels for the rest of the first and into the second but nearing the third you could start to see that double shifting for as long as we had started to take its toll on us. We had 2 full lines plus one floater for the whole game so it was pretty much go on, play, go off and go back on again.
We got outplayed all of the third and luckily baskie kept us in the game again with his stellar play. The orange team made the game close by scoring their first and only goal of the game but we were able to weather their offensive rushes and have a few dominant shifts to keep them on the defensive. We killed it in the last few minutes and pressured them so that they couldn't pull their goalie until there was less than a minute left and we were able to run out the clock for yet another win keep a streak goin into the playoffs next week.

i would like to add on a sidenote that R-Kells was on defence tonite and absolutely killed it whenever he was on the playing surface. he knows his positional defence really well and was hustling his ass off making some really good plays to put us in a better position to win. i know baskie appreciated his hard work.

mini vans - regular season
Tonight was one of the most important games of the eason and we came through with a very good and clutch performance against what was considered to be a tough opponent. The first two periods we played really effectively but couldn't find the back of the net and came close to going into third down 1-0.
The pylon's first and only goal wasn't pretty at all, baskie went down and hit the net to the side and the ball rolled in the side. After that we got fired up and came out with energy. Ian got a goal with five seconds left in the second and then the pylons called a pointless timeout that didn't phase us at all.
We came out in the third just like we ended the second and I drew a penalty and took another bump in the shin that resulted in the second and eventual game winning goal. Right after that shift r-kells, stabs (playin his first ever game forward) and me came out with an intensity and stabs got two quick goals to make it 4-1 and after that the game seemed a bit easier.
We finished the game winning it 5-1, r-kells and me both racked up 4 assists, brawley senior got a goal and assist and stabs got 2 goals.

Mini Vans - regular season
last nite was quite the game...
we played great in the first period against a low ranked Belair team and controlled alot of the game for the first 10 minutes.
after that i dont know what the fuck happened, we fell apart in the second period, they were just outplaying us and they were more hungry for the win.
alot of our players were gettin chirped by our own bench last nite, me being among that group and i guess all the heckling from our teammates helped because we came out in the third period with a vengence.
ended up going ahead 4-2 in the third and we were breezing towards a win and the start of hopefully another win streak. and again we flopped pretty bad.
i got slashed hard with 5 min left and it was a stinger so i came off. then we got a bench penalty for delay of game so i served that.
Belair got a goal with about 3 minutes left in the game to put them down by only one and we knew they were gonna pull the goalie. Smiley came off with about 2:30 left and all he said was "get me on there for the last minute". he had that drive in his eyes and i knew he wanted that empty net goal to ice the game.
the last minute comes, and Belair has an empty net and i see Smiley eyeing that thing from the bench. shooting lightning bolts from his eyes at the net (not really though).
so he gets on and runs his ass off and actually gets the ball and races down the floor to try to put the game out of reach but he got off balance and barely missed the net with a shot. then im pretty sure he bailed pretty hard and scraped the shit outta his knee. thats dedication for the team right there.
Belair gets the ball and races back up the floor and gets into our end and scores with 23 seconds left to tie the game at 4-4...
WTF!!!!
needless to say i was pretty pissed, and the rest of the team was also.
so then as the time is winding down into overtime brawley senior gets a penalty for a slash or something, refs were brutal.
and thus overtime begins...
so we're on the penalty kill for the first 2 minutes of overtime. 4 on 3, thats no fun.
we managed to keep the ball out of our end until the penalty ended, then immediately after the penalty kill we got another penalty. did i mention the refs were brutal?? oh, ok. because they were.
another man advantege for Belair. luckily they were trash and hackett had had enough of the bullshit we had gone through. he intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and raced in on pretty much a breakaway after a nice dangle around the last defenceman. he rifled it past the goalie and we won.

last nite was a pretty good game, not too happy with the outcome but a tie is better than a loss i guess.
we hustled our asses off and tied the game up when we were down 3-1. had a lot of good chances after we had tied it up but couldnt get that extra goal.
overtime was pretty exciting but still no goal.
b kells ran his ass off and kept us in the game. atta boy
baskie also played well and kept our chances alive.

Mini Vans - regular season
played the last place team on sunday to try to extend our winning streak to 5 games and we were very successfull.
we blasted the titans 6-0. it was pretty much a clinic.
lets not get ahead of ourselves... we play the first place team next sunday in a rematch of our second (?) game of the year.
we lost that one 2-1 in overtime on a shitty give away. we wont lose to them again.

roster report
china - bevan's been playing well since the beginning of the season. hes really solid on defence and makes some fuckin awesome plays to stop some goals. hes also got great awareness and hand eye coordination as well. if he shot more from the point it would be over, but even as i say that i know that his passes are really key too and he sets up some beauty plays.
kotchie - great hands and pretty good speed as well. hes a good playmaker and sees alot of the play surface most of the time. he set me up with a beauty on my first goal of the year and im pretty sure he could do that anytime as long as the other guy is there to recieve the pass. i find that hes really good at bringin the ball up too, which is key.
Baskie - fuckin awesome goalie. hes the only reason we've won the last 4 games in a row. he hustles his ass off all game long and his energy gets passed onto us.

alrighty.... its monday today, which means we had a game yesterday. and it was fuckin GREEAT!
4 wins in a row baby. feels good.
ok so, we got really badly outplayed last nite, it was pretty ruthless. well, i wouldnt use the word ruthless, but it was pretty bad. the other team was really quick and pretty good at passin the ball around. we had 2 penalties given to us in the form of high sticking calls, both by the same guy on the other team and we were absolutely SHIT on the powerplay. now i know somethin we gotta work on.
i wont hesitate to mention the fact that we had only 2 lines all nite long, which might explain why we got outplayed last nite. i know i was breathin heavy a whole lot in the game and suckin wind.
it sucks when you go out to a game expecting the rest of the team to be as hyped about it as you and get there and find out you only have 2 lines today and you'll be double shifting all game and getting outplayed to shit.
maybe im just too competitive, but i want to win this year. i guess i need to motivate my team more.
we had our chances last nite and their goalie was giving up big juicy rebounds all game that we couldnt do anything with.
we got a nice amount of shots on net though.
i think brawley got the first goal and yours truly sniped the game winner with like 5 minutes left, with the help of brawley of course.
we were then given an even better chance to win when the ref muffed a call and gave the other team a high sticking penalty with 2 min (approx) left when the ball went off Baskie's helmet. im not chirpin the call, it was in our favour. ill take it.

Mini Vans - regular season
heres the first post about our awesome floor hockey team, and a partial scouting report.
our record isnt too good so far, but after this week it should be respectable enough to actually say what it is.
first off i gotta mention the brawleys, effin deadly combo. the older of the 2 has dangles like a mofo, the younger is sick with a stick as well, and on the same line they dominate.
stabs is awesome at defence, ive seen him break up 2 blatant breakaways so far early into this season and dont expect anything less from him each game.
smiley has wheels like no other on the team. he could single handedly dump, chase, pass the puck out to himself and get a shot off. hes been hustling his ass off lately and it shows in the number of good chances hes gotten.
hacketts playin really well too recently. he was away on a trip but then came back and hes a really good play maker on the lines he plays with.
baskie is our goalie and hes the only reason we have the wins that we have this season. he keeps us in every game and plays like an allstar.
k. johnston is playin really well too so far early in the season. hes got a deadly shot and can pretty much predict where a guy will be and feed him a perfect pass in front of the net.
kelly is hustling his ass off every game. hes gotten close a couple times, he just needs to light the lamp that first time and its on like donkey kong.
dutch is holdin down defence for us when he needs to, and hes got a great slapper from the point.
me... i wear an old ass yellow helmet and run my ass off while im on the floor and try to make some plays.

our record isnt too good so far, but after this week it should be respectable enough to actually say what it is.
first off i gotta mention the brawleys, effin deadly combo. the older of the 2 has dangles like a mofo, the younger is sick with a stick as well, and on the same line they dominate.
stabs is awesome at defence, ive seen him break up 2 blatant breakaways so far early into this season and dont expect anything less from him each game.
smiley has wheels like no other on the team. he could single handedly dump, chase, pass the puck out to himself and get a shot off. hes been hustling his ass off lately and it shows in the number of good chances hes gotten.
hacketts playin really well too recently. he was away on a trip but then came back and hes a really good play maker on the lines he plays with.
baskie is our goalie and hes the only reason we have the wins that we have this season. he keeps us in every game and plays like an allstar.
k. johnston is playin really well too so far early in the season. hes got a deadly shot and can pretty much predict where a guy will be and feed him a perfect pass in front of the net.
kelly is hustling his ass off every game. hes gotten close a couple times, he just needs to light the lamp that first time and its on like donkey kong.
dutch is holdin down defence for us when he needs to, and hes got a great slapper from the point.
me... i wear an old ass yellow helmet and run my ass off while im on the floor and try to make some plays.
